Couples Counseling and Sex Therapy FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions about Couples Therapy
and Sex Therapy at our Bellevue and Seattle Clinics

  • Does PBH Accept Insurance?
We do not work directly with insurance and are considered an out-of-network provider. We provide a Superbill each month for you to submit to your insurance company for possible out-of-network benefits. Most insurance companies will reimburse a portion of a therapy fee for an out-of-network provider. You are welcome to contact your insurance company to see if they will reimburse a portion of your payment.
  • What are Some Benefits to Not Using Insurance In-Network?
Insurance companies require a release of records to decide necessity for mental health services. They can also dictate the entire course and length of your treatment. There is enhanced privacy for you and greater flexibility for your clinician to tailor therapy to your unique treatment needs and timeline when insurance is not used.
  • How Will I Know if My Insurance Will Reimburse for Services?
If you are interested in learning more about reimbursement from your insurance company, please contact them prior to scheduling and consider asking the following questions: What are my mental health benefits? What is the reimbursement rate to work with an out of network provider? What is my out of network deductible and has it been meet?
  • How Do I Access My Superbills?
Superbills are sent to your patient portal at the end of each month. If you have any concerns accessing your superbills, please let us know and we will be happy to assist.
  • What is the PBH Cancellation Policy?
We prioritize our clients by reserving a specific day and time for each person. When clients cancel an appointment, we offer that spot to other clients who need an appointment that week. When clients cancel within 24-hours or don’t show up for their appointment, other clients miss an opportunity to be seen. If you need to cancel or reschedule a session, we ask that you please notify the office 24-hours prior to your scheduled appointment time to avoid a full session charge. Since each clinician reserves a space for each client, we ask that clients honor the full fee agreement for their session which has been reserved for them should they cancel later than 24 hours.
  • What is the Length of a Therapy Session?
Sessions are 50-minutes long, but may be extended to 80min or longer for couples therapy or other treatment needs. If you would like an extended treatment session, you can request this with your clinician.
