Dr. Corie Camara helps individuals achieve overall wellness in both mind and body. Her clinical expertise include grief, trauma, betrayal, postpartum and fertility challenges, and relationship struggles. Her additional specializations include treating anxiety, depression, stress, OCD, and a wide variety of chronic health conditions.
After her own experience navigating the challenges of infertility, Dr. Camara pursued specialized training in treating postpartum, perinatal, and infertility concerns. She understands the difficulties of the fertility journey and how to best support you and your relationship. Her extensive background in healthcare further allows her to seamlessly coordinate care with other providers to ensure holistic care and support for her clients well-being.
Dr. Camara supports couples struggling with conflict and lack of connection. She helps guide couples work through communication breakdowns, intimacy issues, and frequent arguments leading to strain in the relationship. As a couples therapist, Dr. Camara will make both partners feel safe and heard. She will help you get vulnerable so you can both get what you need for a healthy and loving relationship. She helps couples navigate painful ruptures, parenting disagreements, and day to day challenges to build a stronger, more fulfilling connection. She will help you improve communication, resolve conflicts, and rekindle the spark in your relationship.
Dr. Camara is also passionate about supporting individuals who have been impacted by their partner’s infidelity. She knows that betrayal is a deeply painful and traumatic experience, and can leave you feeling confused, hurt, and alone. She will help you process your emotions, find stability, rebuild trust, and reclaim your sense of self. With her compassionate and evidence-based approach, you’ll gain the tools to heal, grow, and move forward with strength and empowerment.
Dr. Camara also specializes in women’s sexual health and intimacy. She understands the unique challenges faced by individuals and couples struggling with low sexual desire, sexual function concerns, and the complexities of navigating sex and intimacy after infertility. Dr. Camara provides a safe and supportive space to explore these topics, offering evidence-based therapies to help you rediscover pleasure, enhance connection, and improve your overall sexual well-being.
Dr. Camara uses therapies aimed to increase positive behaviors, improve health, and enhance quality of life, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), exposure therapy, such as Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), and mindfulness. She considers each client’s unique background and personal goals to create individualized treatments and explores personal values to help clients live more meaningful lives in the present moment.
Dr. Camara received her doctorate from George Fox University where she earned a Special Commendation Award for Leadership Contribution. She obtained extensive training and experience in health psychology, which involves managing and coping with medical challenges, improving health behaviors, preventing illness or the worsening of medical conditions, and improving stress management to promote whole body wellness.
Throughout her career, Dr. Camara has taught and trained healthcare providers, medical students, and other psychologists in Motivational Interviewing, effective patient communication techniques, and mindfulness interventions. Her graduate research focused on an interdisciplinary approach to treat chronic pain in the primary care setting. She trained at the Cleveland VA Medical Center and the VA Loma Linda Healthcare System where she completed rotations in pain management, oncology, hospice and palliative care, inpatient psychiatry, and health promotion disease prevention.
Dr. Camara is originally from the Pacific Northwest, where she developed a love for nature and animals. She enjoys being a mama of a sweet little boy, who was made with the help of science via IVF, and also has a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.
